Jordan Fried

Partner

Jordan is an experienced attorney whose practice focuses on rent regulatory compliance, deregulation issues, landlord-tenant law, housing litigation, and administrative proceedings before New York State and City agencies.

Jordan began his legal career at the New York State Division of Homes and Community Renewal's (DHCR) Tenant Protection Unit (TPU), where he led investigations to ensure compliance with New York State's rent laws. His work at the TPU included complex enforcement cases, investigations into the legality of deregulations and legal rents, and prosecution of harassment proceedings.

Jordan concluded his decade-long tenure at the TPU as a Supervising Attorney, where he collaborated regularly with senior staff from various State and City housing agencies to develop and enforce agency policies and directives.

Following his time in the public sector, Jordan was a partner at a leading real estate law firm in New York City. There, Jordan represented a diverse range of clients—including property owners, developers, and managing agents—in Supreme Court, Housing Court, and before administrative agencies such as the DHCR. His work encompassed advising clients on rent regulation compliance, conducting due diligence for prospective property acquisitions and sales, and handling complex litigation involving New York’s rent laws.

In addition to his work, Jordan is a frequent speaker on New York rent laws and housing policy. He has delivered presentations and participated in panels for both tenant and landlord audiences, offering practical guidance on topics such as rent stabilization, eviction proceedings, and recent legislative changes.

Jordan brings a unique, balanced perspective to his practice, shaped by his experience advocating on behalf of both tenants and landlords. He is known for his thoughtful, strategic approach and unique insight of New York housing law.

Jordan earned his Juris Doctor from New England School of Law and his Bachelor of Arts from Roger Williams University. He is admitted to practice in New York.
